About this blog

The title of the blog “linguistic pulse” is a metaphor for what the language we use can tell us about our society (or societies).  By looking at the discourse that circulates among us, we can say a lot about the nature of who we are and how we operate.

My goal with this blog is to provide a regular series of posts that explore current issues in education and politics through the lens of my academic background in applied linguistics.  Although I draw on insights from academic theories and research, it’s my intention that this blog be accessible to a wide audience.  Simultaneously, I hope to make my analysis of issues in-depth enough that others with interests in applied linguistics and related disciplines will find them interesting.
